•Tube Caves – These are formed when lava flows form tubes or tunnels that eventually cool and form a permanent tunnel network. 

•Maze Caves – These caves form when lava streams enter a fracture network and form a honeycomb-like pattern.

Minerals and Elements – Caves are often home to valuable elements including sulfates, salt, and other minerals. Through speleology, researchers are able to unearth these elements and understand their importance.
